PM wants “terrorist” organizations’ finances tracked

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki urged security and intelligence agencies on Thursday to track the financial resources of “terrorist” organizations to eliminate them. “Terrorism is a widely spread phenomenon in our societies these days, hence why we need to build organizations that combat this serious threat,” Maliki was quoted saying in a statement by the National Information Center during the inauguration of an anti-terror agency building inside the heavily-fortified Green Zone. “Iraq needs to have specialized security agencies. The forthcoming stage will see specialized organizations that will shoulder their responsibilities of protecting Iraq’s wealth,” Maliki said in the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. He called for purging this newly-established anti-terror agency of any “sectarian or partisan tendencies so that it may win the Iraqis’ confidence”. AmR (P)/SR 1
