MP’s guards confessed to murders – BOC

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Guards of lawmaker Mohammed al-Daini who were arrested by security forces around a week ago confessed to having perpetrated the killing of Iraqi people, the official spokesperson of Baghdad Operations Command (BOC) said on Sunday. “The arrest operation took place according to a judicial warrant,” General Qassim Atta said in a press conference in Baghdad that was attended by IraqiNews.com news agency. “According to the Iraqi constitution, armed forces and security services receive orders from the commander in chief, the prime minister,” he added. On Wednesday Feb. 18, legislator Mohammed al-Daini said in a press conference in Baghdad that a force receiving orders exclusively from Prime Minister (PM) Nouri al-Maliki arrested his chief guard and private secretary. He said that the force raided his house in al-Qadisiya neighborhood on Feb. 8, and arrested his chief guard, asserting that the same force arrested his private secretary on Feb. 17. He explained that the force belongs to the Baghdad Brigade that has no legal or constitutional traits, as it receives no orders from security ministries, but directly from the premier, according to al-Daini. He pointed out that he told the force commander that he is a legislator and has immunity, but the commander conducted the arrest operation under the accusation of practicing terror. Al-Daini described the operation as a form of pressure, threatening and arms-bending. The NDF occupies 11 out of 275 seats in the Iraqi council of representatives, and it is headed by Saleh al-Motlak. MH (S)/SR 1
