4 U.S. soldiers injured in Mosul – army advisor

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Four U.S. soldiers were wounded in a shooting in Mosul on Tuesday afternoon, an adviser of the U.S. army said. “Four U.S. servicemen were wounded in the shooting that took place on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 24) in western Mosul,” al-Muqdad Jibreel told IraqiNews.com news agency by the phone, noting that an Iraqi interpreter was killed in the attack launched by unknown gunmen during a joint meeting of U.S. and Iraqi troops. A security source had said earlier that an Iraqi interpreter was killed when an Iraqi policeman opened fire targeting a U.S. patrol in western Mosul city. “The incident took place near the 5 th bridge in Mosul,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency, explaining that the attack caused casualties among the U.S. patrol’s servicemen. “U.S. forces cordoned off the area,” he said. For his part, a medical source confirmed that the morgue in Mosul received the body of an interpreter. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (S)/SR 1
