100,000 housing units to be built – PM

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday said that his government will soon sign contracts with international corporations to build 100,000-200,000 housing units in the country. “Some 10,000 units will be built in each province with 100 square meters per unit. The units will be having all the necessary infrastructure and schools and is offered for citizens for $46,000 to be paid over installments in five years’ time,” Maliki said during a meeting on Thursday at his office with Iraqi Minister of Municipalities & Public Works Riyadh Gharib. “Our efforts this year will be focusing on water, electricity, oil and municipal projects the Iraqi citizens have been denied for a long time,” Maliki was quoted as saying in a cabinet release as received by IraqiNews.com news agency.
