SIIC chief meets OIC secretary general

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Abdulaziz al-Hakim, received the secretary general of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, at his office in Baghdad on Wednesday, according to a statement released on the SIIC website. “The meeting tackled the OIC’s work in Iraq and ways to strengthen its role in the country to,” said the statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Al-Hakim lauded the OIC’s role in maintaining Muslims’ unity,” it added. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu met with a number of senior Iraqi officials over the past three days, including President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and as well as foreign ministry’s officials.
