Efforts continue to settle Saudi-based detainees issue

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi National Security Adviser Mowaffaq al-Rubaie said that efforts are underway to settle the issue of Iraqi detainees in Saudi Arabia. The remark was made during his meeting with the parliamentary human rights committee, according to a statement released by Rubaie’s office and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “There are 434 Iraqi detainees in Saudi Arabia…,” the statement quoted Rubaie as saying. “We have visited the kingdom three times to foster bilateral relations and to open new horizons of cooperation in all fields, including politics, security, intelligence and counter-terrorism,”Rubaie noted. “We have handed over to the Kingdom six Saudi prisoners, who were released by the U.S. forces …,”  he added.
