BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Ministry of Transport on Monday revealed a 20 percent increase in the revenues of the Iraqi Ports Company in February 2009, linking it to an unprecedented rise in the number of ships arriving at Iraqi ports. “For the first time in the history of Iraqi ports, 110 ships entered the country throughout one month,” according to a ministerial statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “A total of 110 ships arrived at the ports in February 2009, compared to an average of 70-80 ships in the previous months,” the statement explained. “A record number of 90 ships arrived at Khour al-Zubeir port during the last month,” the statement added.
