Two wanted gunmen arrested in Baghdad

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi security forces on Monday arrested two wanted-men affiliated with two armed groups in Baghdad, said the Iraqi Interior Ministry. “A force from the Ministry arrested Wathiq Adnan Mohammed, aide to the top leader of al-Qaida Organization in Iraq,” General Abdul Kareem Khalafa, director of the Ministry’s National Command Center, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Mohammed is responsible for disseminating provocative fatwas on sectarian killing and displacement at the 14th Ramadan Street, western Baghdad,” he said. He explained that “another force arrested Omar Taha Yaseen, who belongs to the so-called Asayib al-Haq Brigades, and a mechanical engineer working for a private company.” “The force arrested Yaseen in al-Jihad neighborhood, southwestern Baghdad,” Khalaf said. “Yaseen confessed to detonating 180 adhesive bombs that targeted civilians, and to having a factory to produce pistols with silencers,” he added.
