Oil pipeline explodes because of air pressure

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: An oil pipeline in al-Dibiss exploded as a result of air pressure, the suburb’s police director said on Saturday. “The explosion occurred late yesterday night near the suburb’s Mserfa village, 40 km west of Kirkuk,” Colonel Hussein Neama told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The pipeline was damaged and an oil leak has occurred,” he said. He pointed out that preliminary investigations showed that the explosion was due to environmental factors. “The fire that lasted around four hours was distinguished by the firefighting team of the Iraqi North Oil Company,” Colonel Neama explained. The oil-rich city of Kirkuk lies 250 km northeast of Baghdad. MH (P) / SS 1
