Talabani presides over PUK politburo meeting

SULAIMANIYA / IraqiNews.com: The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) politburo has held a meeting under its secretary general Jalal Talabani on Saturday to discuss preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region. “The PUK secretary general and Iraqi President Jalal Talabani spearheaded a meeting of the Kurdish party’s politburo on Saturday (March 7) to discuss preparations for the elections in Kurdistan,” the PUK web site quoted al-Mulla Bakhtiar, the politburo spokesman, as saying. The correspondent of IraqiNews.com news agency said that four members who had resigned from the party recently did not attend the meeting. The Kurdish city of Sulaimaniya lies 365 km northeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
