1st reading of Kurdistan’s elections law on Tuesday

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The first reading of the amendments to the general elections law in Iraq’s Kurdistan region will be on Tuesday, according to the regional Parliament’s media advisor. “The agenda of the regular session, scheduled to be held on Tuesday (March 10), includes the first reading of the proposals and amendments to the general elections law requested by the region’s presidency,” Tareq Johar told IraqiNews.com news agency. The region’s presidency has returned the law to the Parliament following amendments made by lawmakers in early February 2009. Earlier this year, the speaker of the Kurdistan Parliament, Adnan al-Mufti, proposed May 19 as a date for holding general elections in the region. SS (P) 1
