Press chief says TV channel official released

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The chairman of the Iraqi Press Syndicate on Monday said that Syrian authorities have released an Iraqi television channel official, who have been detained for a few days. “The Syrian ambassador in Baghdad said that his government released Hayfaa al-Husseini on Sunday (March 8) evening,” Muayyad al-Lami told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Husseni is in good condition,” Lami noted, adding that the arrest was related to her residency. Earlier, Iraqi National Security Advisor Muwaffaq al-Rubaie urged the Syrian government to reveal the circumstances surrounding the detention of Husseini, the head of al-Fayhaa Channel’s office in Syria, and called for her immediate release. Husseini was arrested in the Syrian capital’s area of al-Mazza during a raid on the office nine days ago. SS (P) 1
