Investment offers chance to eliminate Iraq unemployment – Issawi

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Rafie al-Issawi on Sunday said that investment would offer a favorable opportunity to eliminate unemployment, which became a global, not just Iraqi, phenomenon. “There is a pressing need to improve infrastructure to motivate investors to come to Iraq, particularly in the banking sector,” Issawi said during an inaugural speech at a symposium held by the Iraq National Investment Commission (INIC). “Success in the investment sector lies in the participation of the private sector and the fine-tuning of investors’ activities away from selectivity,” he said. The INIC held the symposium to discuss means of refurbishing the mechanism of investment organizations in the Iraqi provinces. Jeena al-Ammo of the INIC information office had told IraqiNews.com news agency that the event, held under the rubric ‘Investment as Mainstay in the Future of Iraqi Economy’, will tackle the obstacles impeding investment in the country and solutions proposed to attract investment and ameliorate the Iraqi economy.
