Policy needed to attract new investments-VP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi on Sunday said that a new policy is needed to attract investments and money to the country, calling for amendments to the current taxation scale. “This year, we suffer from a lack of crude oil resources…,” Hashemi said in a press conference held today on the sidelines of the Baghdad-based National Economic Forum. “I believe that Iraq needs a policy to attract money and investments, which is one of the objectives of the forum,” Hashemi added. The vice president called for making amendments to the current taxation scale, arguing that taxes form part of the budget. The forum, which takes place from March 22-24, is attended by a large number of state officials, as well as Iraqi and foreign economists. SS (P) 2
