3 Sahwa fighters found dead near Hilla

BABEL / IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Monday found three bodies belonging to Sahwa fighters in Babel province, according to a local media source. “This morning, Babel police forces discovered the bodies inside a civilian vehicle in Jarf al-Sakhr al-Farisi area (60 km northwest of Hilla),” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Meanwhile, a Sahwa council member was wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted his vehicle in al-Iskandriya district (50 km north of Hilla),” the source added. The Sahwa councils are anti-Qaeda fighters working in coordination with the Multi-National Force (MNF) and the Iraqi government. Headed by local chieftains, the councils have been credited with helping reduce violence in many Iraqi provinces, like Anbar, Diala, Ninewa, and Salah al-Din. Hilla, the capital city of Babel province, lies 100 km south of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
