Basra council’s sovereign posts in 2 days – politician

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Sovereign positions in the new Basra provincial council will be settled during the next two days, the chief of the Dawlat al-Qanoon coalition in Basra said on Friday. “The final date for receiving the civil administration from the former council board will take place on April 14,” said Shaltagh Abboud in statements to IraqiNews.com news agency. “The posts of governor, deputies, the provincial council chief and his deputy will be settled during the couple of days to come,” said Abboud, noting that the governor post will not be one of the members of the new board. The Dawlat al-Qanoon, or State of Law, coalition list obtained 20 seats. The coalition belongs to incumbent Iraqi Prime Minister Nousi al-Maliki. The oil-rich port city of Basra, lies 590 km south of Baghdad. AmR (P) 1
