Police arrest 15 persons in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: Fifteen persons, including 12 wanted men, on Monday were captured during a raid in Kirkuk city, according to a local police chief. “A joint force conducted a raid-and-search operation in the neighborhoods of al-Orouba, al-Baath, al-Mamdouda, and al-Nidaa, as well as Hisar village (10 km south of Kirkuk city), during which 15 men were arrested, including 12 members of al-Naqshabandiya group,” Brig. Sarhad Qadir told IraqiNews.com news agency. “One vehicle, CDs and leaflets were confiscated during the operation,” the official added. Al-Naqshabandiya is a group that introduces itself as an Islamic spiritual dogmatic organization, but its ideologies changed into ones of armed struggle against the occupation forces. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 180 km southeast of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
