ICRC returns 8 detainees home

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday said that it has returned eight non-Iraqi former detainees to their countries after they have been released by Iraqi authorities from Sulaimaniya’s Susa prison. “Those released included three Afghans, a Jordanian, a Libyan, a Sudanese and two Syrians,” according to an ICRC statement that was received by IraqiNews.com news agency. Since 2008, the committee has facilitated the return of 32 foreigners to their countries of origin, the statement noted. The committee makes regular visits to detainees held by the Multi-National Force (MNF), the central government in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG), it added.
