Talks to form political alliance between Sahwa council, al-Maliki

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Head of the Sahwa council in Iraq, Sheikh Ahmed Abu Resha, on Wednesday said that talks are underway to establish a political alliance with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, “to serve the political process in Iraq.” “We are currently discussing a political alliance with Nouri al-Maliki, to serve Iraq’s interests,” Sheikh Abu Resha told IraqiNews.com news agency. “We are very close to the premier’s views regarding the most important issues in the Iraqi arena,” he said. “Through the alliance, we are preparing for the upcoming parliamentary elections,” he added. “The success of the alliance has wide-range prospects,” he noted. “The alliance is against federalism and decentralization of provinces,” he explained. “Federalism is a failed project that may cause Iraq sectarianism,” he stressed.
