New Diala governor elected

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: A new Diala governor was elected on Saturday after receiving 17 out of 29 votes, according to an informed source. “Abdulnasir al-Muntasirbillah was elected as the new Diala governor,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Representatives of four blocs have abstained from voting, the source noted. Earlier, Taleb Mohammed Hassan from the Kurdistan Alliance (KA) was elected as a chairman of Diala’s provincial council after 12 members from the dialogue bloc, the Iraqi National List, Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) Coalition, and the Reform Movement had abstained from voting. Born in 1958, al-Muntasirbillah has a BA in Islamic sciences from Diala University. He has a PhD in philosophy from the Faculty of Arts, the Islamic University in Baghdad.
