Dawlat al-Qanoon in Wassit wants governor out of office

WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: The head of the Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) Coalition in Wassit on Monday said that it rejects the re-election of the current governor of the province. “Some blocs want to re-elect the current governor, Lateef Hamad al-Tarfa, for a new term in office, which is contrary to the coalition’s motto ‘Construction and Change,” Majid Ali Askar said in a press conference at Wassit’s provincial council, which was attended by IraqiNews.com news agency. An agreement has been reached to allocate the post to the Dawlat al-Qanoon (State of Law) Coalition’s Independents Bloc, Askar noted. On Saturday (April 11), several residents of Wassit demonstrated in front of its provincial council building calling for the election of a new governor. Tarfa, a member of the State of Law Coalition, has won in the recent provincial council elections. Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad. SS (P) 2
