Russia to activate technical military cooperation with Iraq- FM

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari on Monday said that Russia has agreed to activate technical military cooperation with Iraq, according to Vremya Novosti newspaper. “The Russians have recently announced their approval of an Iraqi request to purchase military aircrafts…,” Zebari told the Russian newspaper. Zebari said that a deal to buy 22 aircraft is on the cards. Other agreements will be reached to activate technical military cooperation between the two countries, under which Iraq could purchase spare parts and have faulty equipment repaired, the minister explained. On Thursday (April 9), Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki led a high-ranking delegation on a two-day visit to Moscow as part of a tour that also includes Paris and London. SS (P) 1
