Parliament adjourns session until Thursday

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi Parliament adjourned Tuesday’s session until Thursday after voting on some draft laws. “The Iraqi Parliament adjourned the session held on Tuesday (April 14) until Thursday (April 16) and agreed to extend the work of the Kirkuk committee until May 31, 2009 but did not vote on it for the lack of quorum,” MP from the Kurdistan Alliance, Khaled Shawani, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The Kirkuk committee has finalized the preliminary report and highlighted the pending issues which we agreed upon,” he said. “The lawmakers voted today on a number of bills, including Iraq’s accession to the Singapore treaty,” lawmaker from the Communist Party, Mufeed al-Jazaeri, told IraqiNews.com news agency.
