Police, army campaign launched in Falluja

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: A joint police and army campaign on Saturday was launched in southern Falluja city, according to an Iraqi army source. “A joint force from the Iraqi army and police put a security cordon around al-Sinaieya area in southern Falluja in search of weapons and explosives,” Staff Col. Yaseen Majid told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Piles of ammunition and explosive material that belonged to terrorist groups were seized during the campaign,” the official noted. Falluja was a scene of armed conflict between U.S. and Iraqi forces on the one hand and al-Qaeda gunmen on the other. Falluja, the largest city in Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad; while Ramadi, the capital of the province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
