IHEC: Funds for Kurdistan elections to be allocated soon

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Monday said that it will soon allocate the necessary funds for parliamentary elections in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. “The funds will not be a ground to delay the Kurdistan Parliament’s elections…,” an IHEC official, Abdulrahman Abdullah, told IraqiNews.com news agency. A meeting will soon be held to decide whether the funds will be allocated from the general budget or the region’s 17 percent share of the budget, the official explained. Parliamentary elections in the northern region of Kurdistan are scheduled to be held on May 9. SS (P) 1
