Iraq, Syria agree to mutual cooperation- spokesperson

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: An Iraqi government spokesperson on Wednesday said that talks with Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Naji Otri have resulted in a package of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two countries, according to an official statement. “The Syrian premier’s visit has brought about a number of MoUs and cooperation protocols between concerned Iraqi institutions and their Syrian counterparts within the framework of the Higher Iraqi-Syrian committee,” a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency quoted Ali al-Dabbagh as saying. “Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his Syrian counterpart have signed the minutes of the committee’s meeting, which tackled cooperation in the fields of trade, finance, investment, economy, energy, industry, agriculture, irrigation, water resources, transportation, communication, information technology, housing, health, science, culture, environment, social affairs, education, sports and youth, media, and arts,” the statement added. Yesterday (April 21), Otri arrived in the capital Baghdad, leading a high-ranking delegation to the Higher Iraqi-Syrian Committee’s meeting.
