Basra prison riot kills 1, wounds 2

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: One inmate on Sunday was killed and two others were wounded during a riot at Basra’s al-Mina prison, according to a local security source. “One detainee was killed and two others suffered medium wounds as a result of a fire that was started by one of the prisoners,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. The source did not explain how the riot was brought under control by Iraqi army and police personnel. The prison holds more than 700 inmates, the source added.
