Explosives seized, 1,600 arrest warrants executed in Basra

BASRA/ IraqiNews.com: Police forces on Wednesday seized “large” amounts of explosives and ammunition in northern Basra, said the province’s police commander, stressing that 1,600 arrest warrants were executed during the recent security operations in Basra over the past two months. “The explosives and ammunition were seized in a raid operation in Al-Lateef area, 20 km north of Basra city,” General Adel Daham told IraqiNews.com news agency. “During the recent security operations in Basra over the past two months, 1,600 arrest warrants were executed out of a total of 1,920,” he said. “The oil-rich city of Basra lies 590 km south of Baghdad.
