Iraq keen to have effective private sector

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday said that his country is keen to building an “effective” private sector, calling on British companies and the international community to contribute to the reconstruction process that is currently taking place in Iraq. “The economic legacy was one of the main challenges that faced us in 2003,” Maliki said in his speech at a London-based conference on investment opportunities in Iraq, which opened earlier today The conference, organized by the U.K. Ministry of Development, is presided over by Deputy Premier Barham Saleh. On Wednesday (April 29) evening, Maliki arrived in London, leading a senior delegation that included the foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari; the interior minister, Jawad al-Bolani; and the trade minister, Abdulfalah al-Sudani.
