More SWAT personnel graduated in Amara

MISSAN / IraqiNews.com: Missan’s police command on Sunday celebrated the graduation of a new batch of SWAT personnel, according to a local police chief. “The celebration, organized by Missan’s police department, was attended by the heads of security departments in the province,” Staff Col. Sadeq al-Hilw told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Thirty-seven recruits have graduated after undergoing a practical and theoretical training course for 15 days,” the official noted. A SWAT (special weapons and tactics) team is an elite tactical unit in American and some international police departments. They are trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the abilities of regular officers, including serving high-risk arrest warrants, barricaded suspects, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, and engaging heavily-armed criminals. Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
