Iraq needs comprehensive reconciliation – Kurdish figure

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The speaker of Kurdistan’s regional parliament on Thursday said that Iraq is in need of a comprehensive reconciliation process. This came during a speech Adnan al-Mufti addressed to the National Accountability and Reconciliation Conference which began its work today at Martyr Saad’s Hall in Arbil city in the presence of Kurdistan region’s President Massoud Barzani. 200 Iraqi political figures, members of the Iraqi and Kurdish parliaments, representatives of foreign embassies, consulates and international organizations, and representatives from the Italian and Greek governments are also in attendance. “The reconciliation process requires that people participate,” al-Mufti said. “Terror should be encountered ideologically and socially,” he added. “Democracy in Iraq requires strong relations with neighboring countries,” he noted.
