Farmer wounded by landmine blast near Makhmour

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A farmer was wounded by a landmine explosion southwest the district of Makhmour on Sunday, a local police source said. “The landmine went off near the village of Makkuk, (28 km) southwest of Makhmour, leaving the farmer working on a nearby plot of land wounded,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. Makhmour, which lies 68 km southwest of Arbil city, is one of the disputed areas between the central Baghdad government and the autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG). “The 500-year-old farmer was rushed to a nearby hospital in the area,” the source added.
