Parl. debates 1981 nuclear reactor bombing compensation

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The parliamentary foreign relations committee on Wednesday discussed during a meeting presided over by Sheikh Hamam Hamoudi a Security Council resolution to compensate Iraq for an Israeli bombing of its nuclear reactor in 1981. “The meeting, attended by the under-secretary of state for foreign affairs, Labeed al-Abbawi…., discussed agreements that Iraq intends to access…,” according to a statement released by the office of the committee’s head and received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The Iraqi Asylum-Seekers Law and Iraq’s stance on Kuwaiti compensation…were raised during the meeting, the statement noted. The meeting also tackled Security Council resolution no. 487, adopted following an Israeli attack on Iraqi nuclear installations on June 7, 1981. Israel bombed a French-built nuclear plant near Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, saying it believed it was designed to make nuclear weapons to destroy Israel.
