20 men nabbed, ammo found in Falluja campaign

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Twenty persons on Sunday were arrested and an amount of arms and ammunition was seized during a security operation in Falluja city, according to a local police source. “A joint force from the local police, the Iraqi army and U.S. troops has thrown a security cordon around several villages, including al-Manteqa al-Sinaieya in Karmat al-Falluja district…,” Col. Saad Abbas from Karmat al-Falluja district told IraqiNews.com news agency. “All stores and houses have been searched a curfew was put in place in several villages, including al-Shuwirtan, al-Sayhat, al-Laheeb, and al-Sikak al-Hadeed area…,” the colonel noted. “Twenty suspects were detained during the campaign, and a weapons cache was discovered in an agricultural land,” the colonel added. “The cache contained 23 explosive devices, 10 Katyusha rockets, 18 hand grenades, 13 missiles…,” he explained. Falluja was a scene of armed conflict between U.S. and Iraqi forces on the one hand and al-Qaeda gunmen on the other. Falluja, the largest city in Anbar, lies 45 km west of Baghdad; while Ramadi, the capital of the province, lies 110 km west of Baghdad. SS (S) 1
