CBI sells $835m this week

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Demand for the dollar increased in the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) auctions this week, hitting $836.611 million at an exchange rate stable for the 17th week in a row – 1,170 Iraqi dinars (ID) per dollar – compared to last week’s $774 million. “The demand hit $228.430 million in cash, compared to $89 million last week, covered by the bank at an exchange rate of ID1,176, while foreign transfers outside the country registered $635.181 million compared to last week’s $685 million, covered at an exchange rate of ID1,173,” according to a CBI news bulletin received by IraqiNews.com news agency. None of the banks that participated in this week’s sessions offered to sell dollars. The Central Bank of Iraq runs a daily auction from Sunday to Thursday. AmR (P) 1
