Mobile companies owe government $2 billion – MP

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The mobile phones companies operating in Iraq owe the Iraqi government nearly $2 billion, member of the parliament’s economic committee said on Friday. “We demand the finance ministry to take all measures to get these amounts as these companies should abide by their contracts and pay amounts within a certain timetable,” Abdulhadi al-Hassani told IraqiNews.com news agency. “These amounts will boost the country’s budget and will decrease its deficit through using them in the investment,” he added. “The mobile phones did not abide by the quality of services so we had to fine them $10 million due to the bad service,” he noted.
