Security measures in Kurdistan for local election

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: The Interior Ministry of the Iraqi Kurdistan region has taken the required measures to secure the election that will take place in the region on July 25, 2009, said the Ministry’s undersecretary, explaining that he perceives “no dangers” in this regard. “The security forces’ servicemen will vote prior to the election day,” Faiq Tawfeeq told IraqiNews.com news agency. 25 electoral lists, including five alliances, will compete to get the 111 seats of Kurdistan’s Parliament, while three candidates have joined the race to win the region’s presidency, including Kurdistan’s current president, Masaod Barazani.
