Cabinet approves honorary consulate for Sweden in Arbil – spokesman

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Iraqi cabinet approved a recommendation by the Foreign Ministry to open an honorary consulate for the kingdom of Sweden in the Kurdish city of Arbil, according to government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh on Sunday. “The decision came within efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and Sweden. The consul should be an Iraqi national,” Dabbagh was quoted in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Iraq will also reserve the right to have open an honorary consulate in Sweden in the future by virtue of a consular deal and in line with the 1963 Vienna agreement on consular relations based on the principle of reciprocity,” he added.
