Iraqi who killed U.S. soldier released on bail

SALAH AL-DIN / IraqiNews.com: Tikrit city’s investigating judge has released on a bail of around $25,000 a 71-year-old Iraqi who killed a U.S. soldier and wounded four others, according to a source from Salah al-Din province’s police. “The incident was unintentional,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency. “It occured 10 days ago in al-Shiloaiya city, 90 km north of Baghdad,” he said. “The man opened fire when he heard sounds near his house,” he added. “The old man thought that gunmen or looters were getting closer to his house,” he noted. The source pointed out that the incident was not an act of terrorism. “The investigating judge demanded U.S. forces to bring the wounded soldiers to give their testimonies,” the source explained. Tikrit, the capital city of Salah al-Din province, lies 175 km north of Baghdad. MH (P) / SS 1
