Al-Samarraie, UN envoy discuss UNAMI activities in Iraq

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Iyad al-Samarraie on Tuesday discussed with the UN special envoy Ibrahim Gambari the activities of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI). “Gambari and his accompanying delegation presented a report on UNAMI’s activities in Iraq and means of cooperation with the Parliament within the framework of supporting the legislative and supervisional institutions in the country,” said a statement released by the parliament received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “The report includes assistance in implementing some projects related to human rights and the civil society organizations,” it added. “The two officials discussed also ways to develop the parliament’s performance and to benefit from the international experiences in this context,” it noted.
