3 suspects nabbed, arms cache found in Anbar

ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Three suspects on Wednesday were arrested and an amount of arms and ammunition was seized near al-Tharthar Lake in Anbar province, according to a local police chief. “An Anbar police force captured three suspects during a search raid near al-Tharthar Lake and neighboring villages,” Maj. Raheem al-Alyawi told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A cache containing weapons and explosives was found in the area,” the major pointed out. “It contained 17 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 10 rockets, 6 Katyushas, four Kalashnikov rifles and other weapons,” he explained. “An investigation is currently underway,” the official noted. Al-Tharthar Lake lies 120 km northwest of the Iraqi capital; while Ramadi, the capital city of Anbar province, is 110 km west of Baghdad. SS (P)/SR 1
