Kurdistan’s registration centers receive 4,000 voters

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: A total of 4,000 voters out of Kurdistan’s total population of 2 million people have been to the region’s registration centers ahead of the parliamentary and presidential polls, scheduled to take place in July. “So far, only 4,000 citizens have been to the registration centers in the region’s three provinces,” the head of Kurdistan’s constituency, Hamdiya al-Hosni, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “Those who do not head to the centers will be deprived from participating in the elections,” Hosni warned. The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has set July 25 as the date for parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region. The elections will coincide with the presidential polls. A total of 509 candidates from 20 political blocs and five alliances encompassing 15 blocs are competing for 111 seats in the upcoming parliamentary polls. SS (P)/SR 1
