25 lawmakers demand to summon finance minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: MP from the Iraqi Accord Front (IAF), Nour al-Din al-Hayali, unveiled on Thursday a request signed by 25 lawmakers to summon the finance minister in light of the sacking of Iraqis working in the Iraqi ministries. Speaking at a press conference in Baghdad, attended by IraqiNews.com news agency, al-Hayali said “we presented a request to the parliament’s chairmanship signed by 25 lawmakers from different political blocs to summon the finance minister to question him about canceling citizens’ contracts working in the Iraqi ministries, as there is a clause in the financial budget that stresses the necessity of not touching employees’ salaries or decreasing them.” “We witnessed a trend in most governmental departments and ministries to annul the contracts upon directives from the Finance ministry,” he added, noting that the contracts of 13,000 citizens in Ninewa were annulled.
