PM gives directives to take deterrent measures against preachers

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on Thursday ordered concerned authorities to take deterrent measures against some preachers who are trying to flare up sectarian unrest among the Iraqi people. “The premier lauded the role played by preachers and mosques’ Imams throughout Iraq in boosting the national unity and spreading tolerance principles,” said a statement released from al-Maliki’s office received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “Muslims’ pulpits should be far from extremism which harms the noble Islamic values,” the prime minister said.
