46 suspects, wanted men nabbed in Kirkuk

KIRKUK / IraqiNews.com: A total of 46 wanted men and suspects on Sunday were arrested during a wide-scale security operation in different parts of Kirkuk province, according to a local security commander. “In cooperation with the Multi-National Force (MNF), a joint force from the local emergency and al-Orouba police conducted a wide-scale security operation in Kirkuk,” Kirkuk’s police chief, Maj. Gen. Jamal Taher said during a press conference in the province. “Twenty-four wanted persons, including members of the Ansar al-Sunna, al-Naqshabandiya and al-Qaeda groups, were arrested, in addition to five men wanted by the emergency police and 17 suspects,” the general noted. Kirkuk, an oil-rich and mixed city of Kurds, Turkmen, Christians and Arabs, lies 250 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
