10 wanted men arrested, 2 IEDs defused in Basra

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Ten wanted men on Wednesday were arrested and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were defused in Basra province, according to a local source. “A force from Basra police conducted search raids in different parts of the province, during which 10 wanted persons were arrested on criminal charges,” the relations and media office in Basra police told IraqiNews.com news agency. “A total of 34 Kalashnikov rifles, 10 hand grenades, four detonators, 10 unlicensed vehicles and seven motorbikes were seized during the raids,” the office noted. “Two sticky explosive devices, weighing 2 kg each, were defused near Basra’s downtown Silo,” the office added.
