Ninewa council to investigate attacks on its members

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Ninewa’s provincial council on Thursday recommended starting an investigation regarding roadside bomb attacks that targeted a number of its members on May 28, 2009, according to the head of the council’s security and defense committee. One of the attacks took place in al-Jameaa neighborhood of Mosul city, and left five injuries among civilians including the council’s member, Lamiaa al-Dabbagh, of al-Hadbaa list. “The recommendation was made to the security services,” Abdilraheem al-Shemmary told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The council will not accuse any side until the investigation finishes,” he said. During the same day, May 28, police forces were able to defuse two other roadside bombs that were planted before two houses of two other members of the council, who both belong to the al-Hadbaa list, without causing any casualties. “So far, those incidents are listed as part of the violent acts against civilians in the city.
