Attack on governor’s police escort foiled

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A bomb squad on Wednesday defused an explosive charge near the house of Ninewa governor’s police escort, according to a local security source. “The improvised explosive device (IED) was placed near the house of Lt. Col. Faez al-Nujaifi in al-Tayaran neighborhood, downtown Mosul,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that no casualties were reported. “Sanitation workers have discovered the device in a garbage dump near Nujaifi’s house,” the source explained.
