Attack on governor’s police escort foiled

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: A bomb squad on Wednesday defused an explosive charge near the house of Ninewa governor’s police escort, according to a local security source. “The improvised explosive device (IED) was placed near the house of Lt. Col. Faez al-Nujaifi in al-Tayaran neighborhood, downtown Mosul,” the source told IraqiNews.com news agency, noting that no casualties were reported. “Sanitation workers have discovered the device in a garbage dump near Nujaifi’s house,” the source explained. On Monday (June 8), an IED exploded in front of Nujaifi’s house, but no casualties were reported. Mosul, the capital city of Ninewa province, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SS (P) 1
