Court warns people of currency fraud

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The Karkh investigation court in Baghdad issued on Wednesday instructions to all media sources to warn people not to become victims of fraud operations that depend on invalid currencies. “Many citizens in al-Adil, Jameaa, al-Khadhraa, and al-Ghazaliya neighborhoods of Baghdad became victims of fraud operations conducted by the same people and in the same way,” the court said in a release received by IraqiNews.com news agency. “A group of people claim that they work for humanitarian organizations of the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) and have foreign and Arab currencies that they want to exchange for the Iraqi currency,” it said. “Those currencies are invalid, but innocent citizens do not know this,” it added. “Through this way, many citizens became victims of this group’s fraud,” it noted. The court called on citizens to avoid fraud operations, to preserve their money and properties. MH (P)/SH 5
