Government ready to receive ambassadors, says interior minister

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Interior Minister Jawad al-Boulani said Thursday that the Iraqi government prepares for opening embassies and receiving Arab and foreign ambassadors to foster cooperation with the international community. In his word before the security leaders conference in Baghdad, attended by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, al-Boulani said “protecting the embassies tops our priorities as the Iraqi government prepares for receiving ambassadors and opening new embassies to boost relations between Iraq and the international community.” “The ministry undertook its mission in Baghdad after 2003. It had only 76 patrols, half of them were not ready,” he said. “We have increased our forces and established more police stations in the country,” the minister explained. “The interior ministry worked on more than 287 cases in the past three years and managed to realize achievements towards the rule of law,” he said. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki held a meeting in Baghdad on Thursday morning (June 11) with security leaders. SH (P) 1
